Commanders Message

Members,

We are in need of our members to take an active role in the many operations of the post.  The time has come for us to work together in the best interests of our members and the American Legion. We need to grow this post. We need to look to the future and expand our influence in the community. We have established a building fund, and will make plans to accommodate our smokers. All this takes effort and both resources of the financial and volunteer type. Please consider becoming more involved. One last item, on Red Shirt Friday, the Bartender will determine if the shirt you wear is Red and eligible for out Red Shirt Friday event.

Respectfully;

Jimmy Josko Commander

Chaplains Corner

God allows us to suffer difficulties and hardships for a purpose.

Is God presently testing you in some area of your life? Testing reveals what is in your heart and produces a robust faith.

Have you become bitter toward God because of where He has lead you, or have you come to trust Him more as a result of what you have gone through?

Auxiliary

Hello Ladies:

We will be interviewing our Girl Staters at our March meeting and will select two delegates and two alternates.  They will be going to Tallahassee the end of June for a week of learning about our government.  This is a very rewarding experience for them and their parents have a good reason to be proud.  The number of girls that we are allowed to send is determined by our membership.

As you all know, membership dues are way over due.  If you have not paid your dues please do so as soon as possible.  Help us reach 100%.

For those of you who may not know, I will not be running for President for the 2016/2017 calendar year.  We will be having nominations for officers at our March and April meetings with elections in May.  All positions are open and any member in good standing is eligible for an office.  Please consider running for a position.

We will be having a bake sale on March 20th from 10AM-2PM in the lounge area.  Anyone wishing to bake something for this event, please let us know, and have the item or items to the post by 9AM.  The more baked goods we have the better. Looking forward to seeing some delicious cakes and pies.

Our St. Patrick’s Baskets of Cheer are on display in the lounge. Our drawing will be on March 17th and the tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00.  Thanks for your support.

There will be a St. Patrick’s Day party at the VA Community Living Center on March 13th at 2 PM.  We will be meeting at the Post at 12:00.

May is fast approaching and that means that it is time to start preparing for our poppy distribution.  We need volunteers to distribute the poppies at local stores.  All that is required is two hours of your time.  We work two hour shifts and the hours are 9AM to 5PM.  The dates are May 7th and 8th.  The signup sheet will be on the bulletin board in the lounge soon.  It doesn’t only have to be Auxiliary members to do this job it can also be Legion and SAL members.  Please volunteer. Every penny that is collected is given back to the veterans.

May there always be work for your hands to do

May your purse always hold a coin or two

May the sun always shine on your window pane

May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain

May the hand of a friend always be near you

May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you

Have a good month and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
