As we approach the annual Legion conference, let us all strive to help accomplish the goals and mission of the American Legion. Our efforts to increase membership, awareness and to educate the community to understand what the American Legion represents and stands for is all our responsibilities. Let us endeavor to fulfill our obligations to our post and to each other in the upcoming months. We are in need of a Finance Officer, and several special projects need a chairman. The many sponsored programs we support are in need of attention. If we are to grow and remain a viable post in the future, we must attract and obtain the public’s support and trust. We need your help. We have established a building fund, conducted a garage sale, started a radio show (WJUP 103.9 FM on Wednesday mornings from 9 to 9:30) and established many daily activities in our canteen. Please become involved and please show your support. Let us work together to strengthen and expand our Post and our commitment to Veterans and the community we serve.

The 2nd nomination of officers is on the 14 of April, if you have someone you would like to elect to ANY office now is the time to nominate them, If you know of a finance officer who would like the job Please nominate them .. We are in need of one. The Garage sale was a huge success! I would like to thank ALL who donated and or volunteered a heartfelt thank you for all the work.

We lost a few fellow legionnaires this month I/we send a heartfelt sympathy to their families and friends of Glenn Calvert, Mike Lillo, and Tim Corder may they rest in peace and they families rest in comfort knowing their loved ones have gone to a better place.
Perhaps you consider yourself a forgiving person, but are you now facing someone whom you cannot forgive.
Jesus said that the measure in which we are forgiving is the same standard God will use in forgiving us.
Would you want God to forgive you in the same way you are presently forgiving others?

We raffled off our Baskets of Cheer on St. Patrick’s Day. Congratulations to the winners. The party at the Post was great. I want to thank everyone who donated bottles and purchased tickets. Special thanks to the ladies who volunteered their time to sell these raffle tickets. The money collected from this raffle will go a long way to helping our veterans.
Unfortunately, we will not be making 100% membership this year. A big thank you goes out to everyone who joined or renewed their membership. Remember, we start this process again right after convention. Just a reminder - Our year is from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017. A thank you goes out to our Membership Chairman Claire Drouin for doing a fine job this year.
Nominations of officers for 2015-16 will again be held at our April meeting. Election of officers will be held at our May meeting. Please consider running for a position. All positions are open and anyone can run for one. Please try to come to the meeting and have some input in this process.
Time to distribute the poppies!!! The weekend of May 7th and 8th is our weekend for distributing poppies. As always, we will be distributing poppies in front of local stores. We are in desperate need of help. The sign-up sheet will be posted at the Post the first week of April. The hours of distribution will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You will be assigned a two hour slot. Legionnaires, Sons and Honor Guard members please step up to the plate and assist the Auxiliary with this endeavor. When you sign up, please put your phone number next to your name. Remember, these poppies are made by veterans. We pay for the poppies and distribute them and the money collected goes back to the veterans.

We had another great St. Patrick's Day!

The 300 Club started on March 25th. Stop by and get your tickets, only $25. This includes 2 weekly drawing of $50 for twenty weeks and a party at the end. If you have any questions just ask the bartender. Also don't forget to inquire about the Jackpot Game!
I would like to take a moment to thank some people who I have forgotten to do so in the past. First I would like to thank Mike at Sunray Plastics in Riviera Beach for making and donating to us our Lucite box we use for our ongoing raffles. I would also like to thank the folks at Evo Italian Restaurant for donating the gift certificate for our last raffle. I hope members will patronize them as they support the Legion and our post. Also a huge thank you to our bartenders who sell our tickets to our raffles. Thank you to Gary & Kim Lott for their donation in memory of Jack Sweeny. I will make sure this money goes directly to the betterment of the Post. Since our next newsletter will be too late to say goodbye to most of our seasonal residents because they will already be gone, I would like to do that at this time and hope that we see you again next year. Please remember to Support your SAL by taking a chance on our raffles, playing Show me the Money and coming by to have a fish dinner once a month.
